Job summary

A West London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Crime Enforcement Officer to investigate and tackle environmental crime, waste offences, fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and wider anti-social behaviour issues.

Investigate fly-tipping, waste and duty of care offences, enforce related legislation, gather evidence and prepare witness statements, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate. Respond to residents and elected members with clear updates on enforcement actions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in environmental crime enforcement within a local authority (essential).
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Protection Act 1990 and related legislation (essential).
• Experience in investigations, evidence gathering, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and handling complaints (essential).

Responsibilities

• Investigate fly-tipping, waste and duty of care offences, commercial waste compliance and environmental nuisance.
• Enforce legislation related to abandoned vehicles, infestations, public health and highway issues.
• Gather evidence, prepare witness statements and issue Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate.
• Respond to resident and elected member enquiries, manage complaints and enforcement actions.
• Investigate multiple complaints to resolve environmental crime and ASB issues.
