Job summary

A West London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Crime Enforcement Officer to investigate and tackle environmental crime, waste offences, fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and wider anti-social behaviour issues.

Investigate fly-tipping, waste and duty of care offences, enforce related legislation, gather evidence and prepare witness statements, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate. Respond to residents and elected members with clear updates on enforcement actions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in environmental crime enforcement within a local authority (essential).
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Protection Act 1990 and related legislation (essential).
• Experience in investigations, evidence gathering, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and handling complaints (essential).

Environmental Crime Officer - Wset London - Rate: £36.00 per hour (Umbrella)

A West London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Crime Enforcement Officer to investigate and tackle environmental crime, waste offences, fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles and wider anti-social behaviour issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate fly-tipping, waste and duty of care offences, commercial waste compliance and environmental nuisance complaints.
• Enforce legislation relating to abandoned vehicles, infestations, public health and highway-related issues.
• Gather evidence, prepare witness statements and issue Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate.
• Respond to resident and elected member enquiries, managing complaints and ensuring appropriate enforcement action is taken.
• Investigate multiple complaints and work to resolve environmental crime and ASB issues effectively.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience in environmental crime enforcement within a local authority.
• Strong practical knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and other relevant legislation and enforcement powers.
• Demonstrable experience in investigations, evidence gathering, issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and managing complaints.
• Excellent communication and case management skills, with the ability to deal confidently with residents and elected members.
