Job summary

Swindon Borough Council is looking for an Environmental Cleansing Operative to join a friendly, dedicated team. The role supports residents across Swindon and requires regular outdoor work, a clean UK driving licence and clear communication skills.

The position is 37 hours per week with a salary of £27,254 per annum plus benefits, and includes a national pay award increase from October. Full immersion in a dynamic local authority environment is expected.

Your next role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Cleansing Operative. In this role, you will work as part of a team supporting residents of Swindon.

You will join a friendly, supportive and dynamic team where we are committed to providing good quality supervision and continuing professional development opportunities.

About You

• Experience of working in an outdoor environment
• Experience of working in a cleansing/waste (or similar) environment
• Full UK driving licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions

Ideally you will have knowledge of Swindon town centre and the surrounding area and be prepared for regular outdoor working in all weathers.

A full UK driving licence is required as the role will involve travelling to different sites daily.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role").
