Job summary

Swindon Borough Council is seeking an Environmental Cleansing Operative to join a friendly, supportive team. You will help provide a clean and safe environment for residents and support the council's cleansing and waste operations.

The role requires outdoor work in all weathers, a full UK driving licence, and excellent communication skills. You will travel to different sites daily and be fluent in English to perform customer-facing duties.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Cleansing Operative. In this role, you will work as part of a team supporting residents of Swindon. You will join a friendly, supportive and dynamic team where we are committed to providing good quality supervision and continuing professional development opportunities.

• Experience of working in an outdoor environment
• Experience of working in a cleansing/waste (or similar) environment
• Full UK driving licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions

Ideally you will have knowledge of Swindon town centre and the surrounding area and be prepared for regular outdoor working in all weathers. A full UK driving licence is required as the role will involve travelling to different sites daily. You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role").
