Job summary

The University of Cambridge is seeking an entry-point IT professional within University Information Services to support timetabling and room booking systems. You will learn enterprise technologies while contributing from initial implementation to ongoing support.

Qualifications

  • Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience creating and maintaining teaching timetables or using complex scheduling systems.
  • Comfortable analysing datasets and producing reports.
  • Problem-solving skills, able to investigate issues, identify solutions and make informed decisions.
  • Proactive, organised and able to take ownership of tasks through to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to produce accurate system, process and documentation.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with an interest in learning technologies and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional support for university timetabling and room booking systems.
  • Investigate and resolve user queries and helpdesk tickets.
  • Perform annual system configuration and maintenance.
  • Gather, analyse and document requirements for system enhancements and projects.
  • Research solutions and support project planning and implementation.
  • Configure systems and conduct QA testing for new releases and enhancements.
  • Create and maintain clear system, process and user documentation.
  • Produce user guidance and training, including onboarding and in-person support.
  • Work with development teams, suppliers and business stakeholders.
  • Support system improvements and integrations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by simplifying processes and enhancing user experience.
