Gherson Solicitors LLP is seeking an entry-level IT Support Technician to join a small team supporting around 150 Macs and an Azure environment. The role is fully office-based and offers structured on-the-job training from the Head of IT.

You will start with service desk support, Mac fleet management, and joiner/leaver processes, with opportunities to broaden responsibilities as you learn.

Formación

• No prior IT job required; study, hobby, volunteering or customer-facing work acceptable.
• Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE 4+), or willing to complete Functional Skills.
• Genuine interest in technology and willingness to learn macOS, M365, Azure, Mimecast and Sophos Central.
• Able to give an example of something technical you taught yourself.
• Able to interact confidently with all user levels, including partners and senior staff.
• Flexible approach to tasks and working hours; maintain confidentiality.

Responsabilidades

• Support the queue: acknowledge requests and close them within SLAs.
• Mac fleet: build, enrol and update Macs using Jamf Pro.
• Joiners/leavers: set up equipment and manage account changes under supervision.
• Fault finding: diagnose problems across computers, printers, video conferencing and practice management software.
• Microsoft 365: day-to-day tasks including mailboxes, groups and licences; increase permissions as signed off.
• Security tools: monitor Mimecast and Sophos Central alerts with a colleague.
• DNS, DHCP, VPN and Wi-Fi: troubleshoot from first principles.
• Documentation and stock: keep notes, update knowledge base and asset register.
• Test changes before implementing; participate in out-of-hours changes with supervision.
