Job summary

George Eliot Academy is seeking an English tutor to support KS3/KS4 pupils in small-group sessions. The role focuses on personalised tutoring during timetabled lessons to help pupils achieve their academic goals.

You will deliver high-quality English teaching for years 7–11, build positive relationships with pupils, and collaborate with teachers to identify intervention focus areas while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards.

Responsibilities

• Work in small groups with pupils in personalised tutoring sessions, supporting individual pupils with their specific educational requirements, in order to enable them to achieve their academic goals.
• To provide high level of teaching in specialist subject for year groups 7 - 11
• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
• To liaise with classroom teachers and curriculum leaders to identify focus areas for intervention.
• To provide objective and accurate feedback to teachers
• To ensure strict confidentiality in all areas of work
• To understand and comply with the statutory guidance regarding safeguarding of children, always ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare, reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer immediately.
