Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves are recruiting an English Tutor for a prominent secondary school in Southend-on-Sea to join from September 2026. This is a full-time, 1-year fixed-term role focused on delivering 1:1 and small group interventions to raise attainment in English.

You will support Year 7–11 students, work alongside experienced teachers, and gain hands-on classroom experience with the aim of progressing toward teacher training within a supportive department.

Qualifications

• Degree in English Language, English Literature or History from a UK university.
• Strong subject knowledge in English (knowledge in Maths is preferred but not essential).
• Passionate about supporting young people in education.
• Can inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
• Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Is considering a future career in teaching.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions for students from Year 7 to Year 11.
