Job summary

Alder Community High School is seeking a Teacher of English with a focus on academic intervention coordination (Reading). The role involves teaching English to KS3/KS4, coordinating school-wide reading age testing, and researching and quality assuring intervention programmes to boost reading progress for students.

You will work with staff delivering reading interventions to ensure impact, data-informed targeting, and continuity across lessons, while presenting progress to parents and governors

Qualifications

• Teach English to KS3 and KS4 with engaging lessons.
• Coordinate whole-school reading age testing.
• Research and quality assure reading intervention programmes.
• Collaborate with staff delivering reading interventions to ensure effectiveness and value.
• Analyze data to target intervention for students.
• Present progress to staff and governors and support CPD.

Responsibilities

• Teach English across KS3 and KS4, delivering inspiring lessons.
• Coordinate whole school reading age testing.
• Research and quality assure the intervention programmes to meet student needs.
• Work with intervention staff to ensure the intervention is effective and balances impact, time and value for money.
• Regularly analyse data to target the appropriate students.
• Liaise with English subject lead to ensure continuity of support in lessons after the intervention.
• Deliver CPD to colleagues on how to support reading in lessons following the intervention.
