Job summary

Alder Community High School in Gee Cross, Hyde, is seeking a Teacher of English and Academic Intervention Co-ordinator (Reading). The role involves teaching English across KS3 and KS4, coordinating reading age testing, and evaluating intervention programmes to maximise impact and value for money.

You will work with colleagues to ensure continuity in lessons after interventions, deliver CPD on reading support, and contribute to the school’s whole-school reading strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience in delivering reading interventions and supporting whole-school literacy.
• Ability to analyse data to inform intervention decisions.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Teach English across KS3 and KS4, delivering inspiring lessons.
• Coordinate whole-school reading age testing.
• Research and quality assure intervention programmes for students.
• Collaborate with staff delivering reading interventions to ensure impact and value.
• Carry out regular data analysis to target the right students.
• Liaise with the English lead to ensure continuity after interventions.
• Present reading progress to staff, parents and governors.
• Deliver CPD to colleagues on supporting reading in lessons after interventions.
• Contribute to the whole-school reading improvement strategy.
