Job summary

Grass Roots Academic Support is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Colchester. You will deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, aligned with the National Curriculum and tailored to student needs.

The role offers a competitive daily rate of £130–£220, initial two-term assignment on a full-time basis, and a commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.

Qualifications

• QTS is required.
• Experience teaching English in a secondary school.
• Experience teaching KS3 and KS4.
• Proven teaching record or strong references.
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure required or willingness to apply for a new DBS.

Grass Roots Academic Support is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher / Secondary English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified English Teacher or ECT to teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, engaging and motivating students while helping them achieve their full potential.

As a English Teacher, you will be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Teaching in line with the National Curriculum and adapting lessons to individual students’ abilities.
• Assessing student progress and setting appropriate targets for improvement.
• Using effective classroom and behaviour management strategies.
• Engaging and motivating students to achieve their full potential.
• Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the wider school community.
• Supporting students to improve their academic achievement and develop their confidence in English.

The successful English Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
• Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and/or Key Stage 4.
• A proven teaching record and/or high-quality references.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to engage, motivate and inspire students.
• A good understanding of the National Curriculum.
• A current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, or willingness to complete a new DBS application where required.
• The right to work in the UK.
• A commitment to supporting students’ academic and personal development.
