Position Details: Permanent, 35 Hour week, starting August 2025
This role involves contributing to excellence in teaching and learning through innovative practices. You will create effective learning opportunities, deliver high-quality teaching, and link content to employers and the local economy. Monitoring student performance, providing feedback, supervising, and motivating students to meet academic and personal goals are essential. We teach GCSE, AS, and A Level English at the Clarence Street Campus. Applications from NQTs are welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the college's mission and values, ensuring effective implementation across all college activities.
- Engage in college and curriculum strategic objectives and participate in annual reviews.
- Stay updated with national developments in the subject area and enhance knowledge annually.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to manage the learning process effectively.
- Use diverse teaching techniques to motivate students and promote independence.
- Create a safe, secure, and motivating learning environment.
- Establish procedures that promote appropriate behavior, communication, and respect, challenging discriminatory attitudes.
- Set, mark, and record student work following college assessment policies.
- Track student progress and attendance per college systems.
- Provide varied teaching styles and learning experiences.
- Understand external and internal assessment procedures and participate in their implementation.
- Improve communication skills to maximize effectiveness and overcome barriers.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Dean on program design and teaching approaches to achieve high standards.
- Support curriculum administration and development of digital, English, and Maths skills.
- Review personal professional development needs and participate in training.
- Communicate with parents, carers, and students through events and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with college policies among students.
- Offer engaging enrichment opportunities to enhance the student experience.
- Prepare and support learners with resources for independent study via VLE.
- Recognize and address diverse learner needs to ensure progress.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent in Scientific or related field (Level 4 or higher)
- Recent successful teaching experience with 11-18-year-olds
- Proficiency in current college IT programs
- Experience in curriculum planning, development, and delivery in Business
- Knowledge of BTEC and/or A Level specifications
- Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
- Level 1 Literacy/Numeracy or higher
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to set high standards and provide effective feedback
- ICT skills supporting subject delivery
- Student-centered teaching approach
Desirable:
- Recognized teaching qualification
- Understanding of ALPS and value-added measures
- Knowledge of curriculum development for employer training
- Experience with BTEC verification and standardization
