Job summary

STS Defence Ltd. is seeking an Engineering Technician to deliver engineering support for multimedia and secure communications equipment on Royal Naval ships, submarines and establishments.

The role covers fault finding, installation, maintenance and testing, with potential global deployments including CONDO, while ensuring quality and safety standards. You will apply electrical, IT, and mechanical fitter skills in a customer-facing environment and may support IT/network tasks as needed,

Qualifications

• Proven experience and qualifications in electrical, IT and mechanical installation.
• Proven experience and qualifications in equipment maintenance.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
• Awareness of Health & Safety Act 1974.
• Ability to work unsupervised, take initiative, and work in a team.
• In-date Passport and clean category B driving licence.
• Experience with Multimedia systems.
• Experience with secure communications systems.
• Experience in IT and networking.
• Ability to interface with systems engineering, mechanical engineering, ILS, Safety, PDM, and manufacturing.
• UK electrical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, AM2, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Desirable -18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Desirable – Electrical Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Providing off site support to the engineering team.
• Fault finding and maintenance of equipment on board ships.
• Installation of cabling and equipment.
• Testing of equipment, spares and reference systems.
• Deploying anywhere in the world inclusive of CONDO.
• Completing work to time, cost and quality.
• Health & Safety policy adherence.
• Providing written/verbal task progress updates.
• Reviewing, updating and improving internal processes and user technical documents.
• Assessing hours and skills required for potential tasks and projects.
• Leading Small teams of fitters on installation tasks.
• Ability to deploy at short notice.
