Naval Production Test Technician — Fault-Finding & Validation

Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Production Test Technician to support the manufacture, testing and integration of electrical and electronic control cabinets for naval and defence programmes.

You will conduct functional and electrical testing, fault-finding, and documentation to ensure products meet customer specs and programme delivery requirements. The role supports QA, engineering and production teams in a highly regulated defence environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Production Test Technician, Electrical Test Technician or Commissioning Technician.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using a range of test equipment (DMMs, meggers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, continuity testers).
• Experience in manufacturing, defence, marine, aerospace or highly regulated engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing, inspection and commissioning of electrical/electronic control cabinets.
• Carry out functional testing in line with drawings, specifications and test procedures.
• Perform electrical safety testing including continuity, insulation resistance and earth bonding checks.
• Diagnose and rectify faults at system, sub-assembly and component levels.
• Record test results and maintain quality documentation.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering and Quality to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure work complies with procedures and defence industry standards.
• Support product improvements and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain calibration awareness of test equipment and uphold safe working environment.
