Job summary

Gerrell & Hard Ltd. in Hedge End, Southampton, is seeking an Operations Engineering Team Leader to join a high-precision manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role, guiding a team of around 5–6 engineers while remaining technically involved in day-to-day engineering support of production. You will lead the engineering support function, resolve issues quickly, drive improvements in quality, yield and process efficiency, and balance management with practical technical delivery

Qualifications

• Strong manufacturing or production engineering background.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
• Understanding of yield improvement and scrap reduction.
• Experience with FMEA and quality-focused engineering.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day leadership and management of a team of 5–6 engineers.
• Provide engineering support to production and resolve technical issues.
• Lead problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to reduce scrap and improve production yield.
• Support high-precision mechanical assembly processes in a clean room environment.
• Review and improve manufacturing processes with focus on quality, repeatability and efficiency.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
