Job summary

The ideal candidate is hands-on, with strong electrical/mechanical maintenance knowledge, a Level 3+ electrical qualification, and proven leadership in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineer with FMCG/manufacturing experience.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification.
• Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and prioritise engineering activities to minimise breakdowns.
• Coordinate daily workload to maximise plant performance and uptime.
• Support performance management and mentoring of engineers.
• Drive KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in developing the Engineering department to support growth.
• Ensure maintenance is safe, efficient and compliant with procedures.
• Maintain plant/equipment to high safety and operation standards.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and reports; follow timescales.

A leading global manufacturer is seeking an Engineering Team Leader to join its growing site in Heywood.

Role Description

• Lead and prioritise engineering activities, ensuring breakdowns are responded to quickly and effectively.
• Coordinate the daily workload of the engineering team to maximise plant performance and uptime.
• Support performance management, development, and mentoring of engineers.
• Drive achievement of engineering KPIs, targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the ongoing development of the Engineering department to support business growth.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.
• Maintain plant and equipment to the highest operational and safety standards.
• Ensure engineering documentation, reports, and maintenance records are completed accurately and within required timescales.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure company policies are consistently followed.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong Electrical and Mechanical maintenance knowledge gained within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
• Time-served Engineer with NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising engineering teams.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering engineering projects would be advantageous.
• Good communication skills with experience using CMMS or engineering maintenance systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to influence and drive high performance within a team.
