Job summary

EK Outreach Services Ltd is seeking an Engineering Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons for students with SEND who cannot access mainstream school settings. Lessons may occur at students' homes, libraries, or other agreed locations, focusing on science-linked engineering topics such as Aerospace and Locomotion.

The role requires flexibility to tailor a personalised curriculum and strong engagement skills. Applicants should hold QTS or have significant engineering teaching experience, with KS3

Qualifications

• QTS or significant experience teaching Engineering.
• KS3 Science or AQA Unit Award in Engineering is desirable.
• SEND experience is advantageous.
• Excellent knowledge of the curriculum and related topics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for 1:1 learning.
• Flexibility to work in various locations (homes, libraries, etc.).
• Valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver individualised lessons aligned with the student level and aims.
• Teach topics up to GCSE or equivalent levels.
• Promote understanding, engagement and motivation in students.
• Adapt lesson content and teaching methods to support SEND learners.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Engineering Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND. In this role, you will have the opportunity to teach and support students who are unable to attend mainstream schooling, helping them engage with studies through tailored and accessible lessons. Lessons may take place in students' homes, libraries, or other agreed-upon locations. Lessons will focus on incorporating some science where possible. The successful candidate should be flexible in providing a personalised curriculum with a basis of science linked with engineering (specifically Aerospace, Locomotion).

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver individualised lessons that are aligned with the student's academic level and learning objectives.
• Teach a range of topics at GCSE or equivalent levels.
• Ability to promote understanding, engagement and motivation in students.
• Remain patient and flexible in the approach to learning by adapting lesson content and teaching methods to support students with SEND and other learning challenges.
• Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and staff.
• Possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with pastoral teams to ensure holistic support for each student.
• Maintain thorough records of lessons and progress in line with educational requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching Engineering.
• Experience in some of the following areas is essential: KS3 Science | AQA Unit Award in Engineering.
• Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of the curriculum and related topics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in a one-to-one setting.
• Flexibility to work in various locations, including students' homes or other designated learning environments.
• A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
