Job summary

EK Outreach Services seeks an Engineering Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons for students who cannot access mainstream schooling. Lessons may take place at the student’s home, in libraries, or other agreed locations, with a focus on incorporating science linked with engineering (Aerospace, Locomotion).

The ideal candidate will have QTS or significant teaching experience in Engineering, with a strong knowledge of KS3 Science and Engineering-related topics, and the ability to engage students

Qualifications

  • Must hold QTS or have significant teaching experience in Engineering.
  • Strong ability to teach GCSE or equivalent in a one-to-one setting.
  • Experience working with students with SEND is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver individualised Engineering lessons aligned with the student’s level and objectives.
  • Teach GCSE or equivalent topics.
  • Promote engagement and motivation for learners with SEND; adapt teaching methods as needed.
  • Track progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain records of lessons and progress in line with educational requirements.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Engineering Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND. In this role, you will have the opportunity to teach and support students who are unable to attend mainstream schooling, helping them engage with studies through tailored and accessible lessons. Lessons may take place in students' homes, libraries, or other agreed-upon locations. Lessons will focus on incorporating some science where possible. The successful candidate should be flexible in providing a personalised curriculum with a basis of science linked with engineering (specifically Aerospace, Locomotion).

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver individualised lessons that are aligned with the student's academic level and learning objectives.
  • Teach a range of topics at GCSE or equivalent levels.
  • Ability to promote understanding, engagement and motivation in students.
  • Remain patient and flexible in the approach to learning by adapting lesson content and teaching methods to support students with SEND and other learning challenges.
  • Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and staff.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with pastoral teams to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Maintain thorough records of lessons and progress in line with educational requirements.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching Engineering.
  • Experience in some of the following areas is essential: KS3 Science | AQA Unit Award in Engineering.
  • Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of the curriculum and related topics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in a one-to-one setting.
  • Flexibility to work in various locations, including students' homes or other designated learning environments.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
