Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd is seeking an Engineering Shift Supervisor for a state-of-the-art food manufacturing facility in Milnrow. You will lead on-shift engineering activities, coordinate maintenance across high-speed lines and drive improvements to reduce downtime and improve OEE.

The role requires strong electrical fault-finding, a formal engineering qualification, and proven leadership within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification such as HNC or equivalent.
• Experience supervising or leading an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and team leadership skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety and manufacturing compliance requirements.
• Ability to drive equipment reliability and continuous improvement.
• Experience with OEE, root cause analysis and preventative maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

Shift: Monday–Friday, rotating early and late shifts

Job Role of the Engineering Shift Supervisor

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Shift Supervisor to join a state-of-the‑art, highly automated manufacturing facility. The site has recently invested in its operations, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their leadership skills and progress their career.

The facility operates high-speed production and packaging lines, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality, food safety and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for leading the engineering team on shift, coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing fault‑finding and breakdown repairs, and ensuring production machinery operates safely and efficiently. You will also drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Non‑Negotiable Requirements of the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Previous experience supervising or leading an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical or multi‑skilled engineering background.
• Hands‑on experience with planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance.
• Experience managing engineering priorities and minimising production downtime.

• Experience managing spare parts and maintenance records.
