Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd in Milnrow is seeking an Engineering Shift Supervisor to lead the engineering team on shift, coordinate maintenance activities and ensure production machinery operates safely and efficiently. You will drive planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance, promote preventative maintenance and continuous improvement to maximise OEE on high-speed lines in a food manufacturing facility.

The role offers a competitive salary (£56,000–£60,000), Monday-Friday rotating early and late

• Must have supervised/led an engineering team in manufacturing.

Job Title: Engineering Shift Supervisor

Location: Milnrow

Salary: £56,000-£60,000

Shift: Monday-Friday, rotating early and late shifts

Job Role of the Engineering Shift Supervisor

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Shift Supervisor to join a state-of-the-art, highly automated manufacturing facility. The site has recently invested in its operations, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their leadership skills and progress their career.

The facility operates high-speed production and packaging lines, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality, food safety and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for leading the engineering team on shift, coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing fault-finding and breakdown repairs, and ensuring production machinery operates safely and efficiently. You will also drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Previous experience supervising or leading an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical or multi-skilled engineering background.
• Hands-on experience with planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance.
• Experience managing engineering priorities and minimising production downtime.

Requirements for the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Recognised engineering qualification, such as HNC or equivalent.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and team leadership skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety and manufacturing compliance requirements.
• Ability to drive equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Desirable Requirements for the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Experience within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
• Apprentice-trained engineering background.
• Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), root cause analysis and preventative maintenance systems.
• Experience managing spare parts and maintenance records.
