Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd in Milnrow is seeking an Engineering Shift Supervisor to lead the engineering team on shift within a highly automated manufacturing facility. You will coordinate maintenance activities, supervise fault-finding and breakdown repairs, and ensure production machinery operates safely and efficiently.

The role focuses on preventative maintenance and continuous improvement to minimise downtime and maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), with emphasis on health and safety

• Recognised engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent).
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and team leadership skills.

Salary: £56,000 £60,000

Shift: Monday Friday, rotating early and late shifts

Job Role of the Engineering Shift Supervisor

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Shift Supervisor to join a state-of-the-art, highly automated manufacturing facility. The site has recently invested in its operations, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their leadership skills and progress their career.

The facility operates high-speed production and packaging lines, with a strong focus on efficiency, quality, food safety and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for leading the engineering team on shift, coordinating maintenance activities, overseeing fault-finding and breakdown repairs, and ensuring production machinery operates safely and efficiently. You will also drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and maximise Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Sector Food Manufacturing / FMCG

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Previous experience supervising or leading an engineering team within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical or multi-skilled engineering background.
• Hands-on experience with planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance.
• Experience managing engineering priorities and minimising production downtime.

Requirements for the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Recognised engineering qualification, such as HNC or equivalent.

• Experience planning and coordinating maintenance activities.

Desirable Requirements for the Engineering Shift Supervisor

• Experience within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
• Apprentice-trained engineering background.
• Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), root cause analysis and preventative maintenance systems.
• Experience managing spare parts and maintenance records.
