Job summary

AWD online in the Peak District is seeking an Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer to own varied technical projects from quotation and design through to delivery. You will coordinate engineering, logistics, installation and commissioning across customers, suppliers and internal teams, while controlling budgets, milestones and standards.

The role requires a degree in a technical discipline, hands-on design experience and a recognised project management qualification.

Qualifications

• Degree in a scientific or technical discipline or demonstrable work at an appropriate level.
• Accomplished design engineer able to present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Project management qualification and previous project management experience.
• Knowledge of materials and safety/quality standards.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage priorities.
• Good communication skills and computer literacy (Word, Excel, MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Define project specifications, design requirements, budgets and quality standards with customers.
• Manage multiple projects to timescales, budgets and technical requirements from quotation to delivery.
• Create and maintain project records, risk assessments and commissioning documentation.
• Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to meet milestones.
• Organise and lead cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, sales and purchasing.
• Identify issues, evaluate solutions and maintain productive customer relationships.
• Oversee installation and commissioning activities and related documentation.
• Provide technical support to international sales partners.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer to take ownership of varied technical projects from quotation and design through to delivery.

Working with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams, the Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer will coordinate engineering, logistics, installation and commissioning while managing budgets, standards and milestones.

The Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer will combine technical design knowledge with stakeholder management to help deliver market-leading products for global customers.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Engineering Project Manager / Project Engineer include:

• Technical Consultation: Work with customers to define project specifications, design requirements, quality standards and budgets
• Project Delivery: Manage multiple projects to agreed timescales, budgets and technical requirements from quotation through to customer delivery
• Project Documentation: Create and maintain project records, contracts, risk assessments, method statements and commissioning documentation
• Stakeholder Management: Negotiate and communicate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams, ensuring milestones and requirements are understood
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Organise and lead work teams across engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing, purchasing and external suppliers
• Problem Solving: Identify project issues, evaluate practical solutions and maintain productive customer relationships
• Installation and Commissioning: Oversee installation and commissioning activities and associated documentation
• International Sales Support: Provide technical support to international sales partners

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in a scientific or technical discipline such as mechanical engineering, materials science, physics or process engineering, or demonstrable work at an appropriate level
• Accomplished design engineer able to present technical information to mechanical and electrical designers and other audiences
• Previous experience with technically demanding products
• Basic knowledge of the properties and treatment of technical materials such as ceramics and metals
• Knowledge of relevant directives and safety standards
• Project management qualification and previous project management experience
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage priorities independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
• Good communication skills and computer literacy, including Word, Excel and Microsoft Project
• Valid passport and clean driving licence for occasional UK or international travel
• PRINCE2 is desirable
