Job summary

AWD online in the Peak District is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to lead customer-specific engineering projects from concept through commissioning, guiding Mechanical and Electrical engineers and project managers.

Based in Hope Valley, Derbyshire, you will drive innovation, ensure quality and cost control, and act as a senior technical contact for global customers while delivering end-to-end project leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Embedded software and firmware development experience.
• Proficiency in C#, C++, and C.
• Understanding of database design and SQL.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems, hardware interaction and Linux.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills using oscilloscopes and debuggers.
• Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and datasheets.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Assembly language experience is desirable.

• End-to-End Project Delivery: Lead custom furnace projects from concept and design through manufacture, testing and commissioning, ensuring products are fit for purpose, functional, cost-effective and high quality.
• Project Management and Risk: Manage concurrent custom builds, identifying and mitigating technical, financial and schedule-related risks to keep delivery on track.
• Engineering Leadership: Mentor, guide and lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Project Managers, supporting continuous professional development.
• Customer Technical Support: Act as a senior technical contact for global customers across academia and industry, translating bespoke requirements into robust engineering solutions.
• Quality and Reliability: Hold engineering teams accountable for designs and products that meet high quality and reliability standards.
• Innovation and Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering processes, procedures and services, keeping customer needs central.

Working within the engineering team, the Project Engineering Manager will lead bespoke developments, coordinate design and delivery, and support high standards of quality, reliability and cost control.

The Project Engineering Manager will guide Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Project Managers while acting as a senior technical contact for customers.

Based in the Peak District, the Project Engineering Manager will also drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering procedures and services.
