Job summary

Hunter Selection is recruiting a Project Engineer for a manufacturing client in Sutton Coldfield. You will lead engineering projects from concept through to installation and commissioning, driving improvements in quality, efficiency and safety.

You will produce and interpret technical drawings (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), specify and install new machinery, manage budgets and timelines, and coordinate contractors and suppliers to deliver on schedule.

Responsibilities

Project Engineer

Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands

£42,000 - £48,000 per annum

40 Hours per Week Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:00

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Sutton Coldfield. This role offers the chance to lead a variety of engineering projects, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support the introduction of new products, equipment, and processes within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from initial concept through to installation and commissioning.
• Produce, review and maintain CAD drawings and associated technical documentation.
• Specify, procure, install and commission new machinery and manufacturing systems.
• Manage project budgets, timelines and project risks.
• Coordinate contractors on site, including reviewing RAMS and supervising works.
• Manage suppliers through specification, FAT, SAT, installation and project handover.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across manufacturing operations.
• Support new product introduction and industrialisation activities, including engineering trials and prototype builds.
• Assist with the development and validation of manufacturing processes for new and improved products.
• Ensure all projects comply with Health & Safety legislation and relevant industry standards.

About You

Essential Experience

• Delivering engineering projects within a manufacturing environment.
• Producing and interpreting technical drawings.
• Introducing capital equipment and manufacturing systems.
• Managing contractors and external suppliers.

Essential Skills

• CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar).
• Strong project management capabilities.
• Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
