Job summary

Tata Steel is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to lead major site development projects at Colors Shotton, guiding a team of engineers from concept to commissioning. You’ll manage budgets, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

With a Mechanical or Electrical engineering background and experience delivering multi‑discipline projects, you’ll shape site improvements and drive on‑time delivery while developing others across this leading steel producer in the UK.

Qualifications

• Strong grounding in engineering from Mechanical or Electrical background with experience leading projects.
• Comfortable managing all stages of a project lifecycle with multidisciplinary teams.
• Confident communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Good understanding of safety legislation, risk assessment techniques, and safe project delivery.
• Budgeting and cost control experience.
• Professional registration such as Chartered or Incorporated Engineer is beneficial; PRINCE2 is useful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects that enhance equipment, improve manufacturing performance, and bring new capabilities to life.
• Build and manage stakeholder groups, define project charter, and follow a stage-gate process.
• Develop detailed project plans, engineering specifications, and governance structures; oversee design, procurement, installation and commissioning.
• Ensure all work meets engineering standards, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations; coordinate risk assessments and CDM/HAZOP studies.
• Lead and support a team including Project Engineers, Design Engineers and contractors.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Teams and plant engineers to provide technical guidance, manage costs, and liaise with suppliers, procurement, finance and safety teams.
