Job summary

Tata Steel UK, Shotton site, is seeking a Chemical Engineer to lead process safety activities across steel processing, roll forming, slitting, fabrication and panel systems.

Educated to degree level in Chemical Engineering, ideally chartered, with a minimum of five years' experience in process safety. You will manage budgets, partners and contractors while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in Chemical engineering, ideally a chartered engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Process safety systems.
• Knowledge of foam system technology, materials and chemicals is essential.
• Ability to liaise with senior management and manage contractors to ensure safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Implementation & execution of all Process safety Chemical engineering activities associated with Steel Processing, Roll Forming, Slitting & Fabricating and Composite panels.
• Ensure understanding of and compliance with relevant policies and procedures and meet all legal & company statutory regulations (cranes, lifting equipment, pressure vessels, LEV's).
• Managing and developing layout of new processes and defining equipment specifications and capability.
• Control & direct management of contractors to maximize H&S compliance and performance.
• Manage and monitor Engineering budget to meet business targets.
• Coordinate implementation of Process safety system components and critical plant register; collect data and monitor chemical processes.
• Keep abreast of developments in plant/process design and oversee team technical improvements.
• Oversee receipt, storage and usage procedures to maintain critical spares inventory integrity.
• Liaise with Manufacturing and Logistics to maximise unit continuity and maintenance programmes.
• Recruit, motivate, train and develop the engineering team and manage performance and rewards for process safety-critical plant.
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement with TPM and related activities.
