Job summary

A prestigious manufacturing client in the Marine and Luxury Yacht industry is seeking an Engineering Project Manager in Wroxham. Qualifications

Job description

Engineering Project Manager

Our prestigious manufacturing client within the Marine and Luxury Yacht industry is currently seeking an Engineering Project Manager to join their highly reputable team based in Wroxham.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

The role involves travel to other locations, so a full driving license is required.

The Project Manager will represent the business in all dealings with the client, from sale to handover.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of systems and equipment typical of large, modern cruising yachts.
  • Strong knowledge of the marine industry, yacht production techniques, and processes.
  • IT literacy, competent in Microsoft Office and project management IT tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with customers, senior management, suppliers, employees, and contractors.
  • Experience managing complex work schedules in a matrix management structure to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Experience sailing large, modern cruising yachts; charter experience is a plus.
  • Degree level education.
  • Project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 or APMP) is desirable.
  • Yacht Master Offshore or Ocean (or equivalent) certification is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the overall build plan and management for your respective yacht(s), including expediting activities across departments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain and update a Master Work List for each yacht, detailing variations, options, and pricing.
  • Report progress, monitor actual vs. planned progress, and coordinate with trade or department heads to mitigate delays.
  • Work with build teams and management to achieve cost, target, and schedule goals, ensuring resource and information availability.
  • Collaborate with the commercial department on costings, specifications, and margins for equipment purchases.
  • Champion HSE practices on yachts and within the business.
  • Keep clients informed about build progress, payment schedules, and estimated completion dates.
  • Coordinate interior design activities with interior designers and production schedules.
  • Schedule and prepare for client site visits to ensure productive meetings.
  • Ensure all payments and paperwork are completed before handover.
  • Work with the commissioning team during yacht commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate activities of cross-functional teams to deliver the yacht to the customer.
  • Manage sea trials and resolve issues prior to customer handover.
  • Check quality and specifications of yachts, ensuring standards and minimal warranty faults.
  • Assist clients with paperwork, including registration, licensing, surveys, and MCA compliance.
