Job summary

Finsbury Food Group is seeking a qualified Multi‑Skilled Engineer in Salisbury to ensure reliable and efficient manufacturing operations. This role includes maintaining production equipment, conducting preventative maintenance, diagnosing faults, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive maintenance approach. Previous experience in food manufacturing is desirable but not essential.

Job description

Location: Nicholas & Harris, Salisbury.
Shift: 4 on, 4 off – 6PM until 6AM.
Salary: Competitive with Opportunities for Growth.

Overview

The Multi‑Skilled Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a wide range of production equipment and site services, ensuring the bakery operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to breakdowns, complete corrective maintenance activities and support installation and improvement projects across the site.
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimise disruption to production.
• Record maintenance activities through our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring work orders, materials and labour are captured correctly.
• Support the development of maintenance standards, equipment performance monitoring and engineering best practice across the site.
• Help drive a proactive maintenance culture, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while supporting the site’s ambitious growth plans.
• Provide emergency maintenance support in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Qualified Multi‑Skilled Engineer with recognised engineering qualifications.

• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Self‑motivated with a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• IT literate with experience using maintenance management systems.
• IPAF qualification and/or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification desirable but not essential.
