Job summary

RDP Electronics Ltd is offering an Engineering Technician Apprentice role in a specialist electronics manufacturing environment. You will gain hands-on experience across electronics assembly, testing, quality assurance, and manufacturing processes while supporting the design and testing of LVDTs and related electronics.

Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will learn to follow procedures, develop problem-solving skills, and contribute to project work in challenging environments

Qualifications

GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent required.
Desirable A Levels in science, maths, and physics with passes Merit or Distinction.
Level 3 Engineering – Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Interest in engineering, electronics, and manufacturing is essential.

Responsibilities

Learn electronic assembly and soldering techniques.
Assist testing of electronic circuits to component level.
Support manufacturing processes for precision electronic products.
Contribute to the design and testing of LVDTs and associated electronics.
Support inspection, fault finding and quality control.
Adhere to safe working practices and follow documented procedures.

Introduction

An exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a specialist electronic manufacturing environment. You will learn a wide range of engineering and manufacturing skills, including electronic assembly, soldering, component‑level testing, welding processes, quality assurance, and product testing.

What You'll Do

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Engineering Technician Apprentice to join our specialist electronic manufacturing team. This is a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of a small but highly specialised engineering and manufacturing facility, gaining practical experience across electronics, manufacturing, testing, quality assurance, and engineering processes.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support the manufacture, testing, and design of LVDTs and associated electronics used in demanding environments, including radiation, cryogenic, high-temperature, and subsea applications. This apprenticeship offers exposure to advanced engineering techniques and quality standards within a BSI ISO 9001‑certified business.

The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training while working alongside experienced engineers and technicians on products used in some of the world's most challenging environments.

As an apprentice, you will learn and contribute to:

Electronic assembly and soldering techniques.
Testing electronic circuits and systems to component level.
Manufacturing processes for precision electronic and electromechanical products.
The manufacture, testing, and design of LVDTs (Linear Variable Differential Transformers) and associated electronics.
Inspection, fault finding, and quality control activities.
