Job summary

Suncombe Ltd invites applicants for a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship (Level 3) at HARLOW COLLEGE. You will work with electricians and engineers on manufacturing, testing and installation of control systems and process equipment.

The programme runs 2 years with full-time hours, providing in-house and formal training in automation, electrical design, testing and commissioning. Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at the required grades.
  • Apprenticeship pathway in mechatronics and manufacturing course.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture electrical control panels and wiring components to schematics.
  • Test electrical control panels, check PLC signals and protective devices.
  • Assist with installation and calibration of equipment and piping as required.

Job description

Introduction

As a key team member working alongside electricians and engineers, you will be involved in a variety of tasks essential to the manufacturing, testing, and installation of electrical control systems and process systems that we design and manufacture.

About the Employer

Suncombe, formed in 1961, design and manufacture high quality critical automatic processing systems for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and research sectors. We are experts in BioWaste Effluent Treatment, Cleaning In Place, GMPWashers, GMP Vessels, Sterile Liquid Processing Skids/Modules and Custom Production, Storage, and Distribution Solutions for validation and compliance to cGMP requirements.

What You’ll Do

Working with electricians and engineers, helping with the following tasks:

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Manufacturing electrical control panels (drilling, tapping, fixing cable trunking and DIN rail, fitting and wiring components to electrical schematics)
  • Testing electrical control panels (checking electrical schematics, checking PLC signals, testing protective devices and general functionality)
  • Installation of cable basket or trunking (marking out, cutting and fixing)
  • Wiring of process equipment such as pumps, heaters and instrumentation using SWA, SY, CAM cables
  • Piping of actuated pneumatic equipment such as valves and cylinders
  • Set-up of equipment, scaling and calibrating
