Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking an Engineering Technician to join a Bedford team dedicated to testing, development and continuous improvement of electronic products. The role is based in a modern engineering environment with a strong emphasis on practical problem solving and hands-on work.

You will perform routine equipment checks, prepare samples for testing, and conduct electrical, thermal and mechanical reliability tests while maintaining thorough records.

Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering, electronics or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with product testing or laboratory testing would be beneficial.
  • Soldering experience or ability to build test fixtures.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong practical skills.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance of testing equipment.
  • Prepare products and samples for testing.
  • Perform electrical, thermal and mechanical reliability testing.
  • Inspect products using microscopes to identify faults and defects.
  • Build and maintain test boards and fixtures.
  • Edit and maintain automated test programmes.
  • Record and analyse test results using Excel and engineering documentation systems.
  • Maintain accurate records and traceability of test samples.
  • Support engineering teams with product development and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety are maintained.

We’re recruiting on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business for an Engineering Technician to join their growing team in Bedford. This role would suit someone with experience within electronics, manufacturing, product testing or a technical laboratory environment who enjoys hands‑on engineering and problem solving.

Key Responsibilities
