Job summary

Reedbut Group in Milton Keynes offers an Apprenticeship as an Maintenance Engineer, delivering hands-on experience with production machinery and repair work.

Qualifications

  • Essential - GCSE Maths (9-5)

  • Willingness to learn and develop practical engineering skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining, servicing and repairing production machinery.
  • Support engineers with fault finding and responding to equipment breakdowns.
  • Learn preventative maintenance techniques to improve machinery performance and reliability.
  • Gain experience with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Help install, test and commission new equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and develop workshop skills (cutting, grinding, welding).
  • Complete maintenance records using the management system.

Job description

Introduction

As an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer, you will work alongside our experienced engineering team to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a qualified maintenance engineer. You will gain hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment while completing your engineering apprenticeship.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with maintaining, servicing and repairing production machinery.
  • Support engineers with fault finding and responding to equipment breakdowns.
  • Learn preventative maintenance techniques to improve machinery performance and reliability.
  • Gain experience working with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Help install, test and commission new equipment.
  • Use hand and power tools safely while developing practical workshop skills, including cutting, grinding and welding.
  • Complete maintenance records using the company's management system.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to support efficient factory operations.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Fully participate in your apprenticeship programme, attending training sessions and developing your technical skills and knowledge.
Training Outcome

This role could lead to a full time, permanent role as Maintenance Engineer within the engineering team, growth into team leader or manager position is possible in the long-term future.
