Job summary

AG Instruments Ltd in Royal Leamington Spa is seeking an Engineering Manufacturing Technician for a full‑time role (apart from college training days for apprentices), available as Level 3 or Level 4 apprenticeship, or as an entry‑level position for non‑apprentices. You will assemble, test, calibrate and carry out quality control on specialist gas analysis equipment for UK and international customers.

Start date expected in September/October.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English, Maths and Science at Grade 4–9 (C–A*) or equivalent for apprenticeship applicants.
  • Equivalent qualifications or relevant practical experience will be considered for non-apprentice applicants.

  • Small scale precision mechanical component assembly.
  • Calibration using automatic calibration apparatus with compressed gases.
  • Reviewing test data, interpreting results, fault finding.

  • Quality control, checking assemblies are ready for the next manufacturing stage.
  • Final assembly, inspection and packing.
  • Use company intranet to find information required to perform tasks.

Job description

We are looking for an Engineering Manufacturing Technician to join our team in Royal Leamington Spa. This is a full-time role (apart from college training days for apprentices), available as either a Level 3 or Level 4 apprenticeship, or as an entry-level/junior position for a candidate who is not undertaking an apprenticeship. You'll be involved in the assembly, testing, calibration and quality control of specialist gas analysis equipment used by customers in the UK and internationally.

Start date expected in September/October.

Core Knowledge, what you will learn and do:
  • Electronics PCB level assembly including soldering.
  • Small scale precision mechanical component assembly.
  • Calibration using our automatic calibration apparatus with compressed gases.

  • Good knowledge of or willingness to learn computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, file structure and internet and intranet.
  • Work efficiently and effectively at all times maintaining workplace organisation and minimising waste.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle items weighing up to 20 kg.
Qualifications Required:

For apprenticeship applicants: GCSE (or equivalent) English, Maths and Science at Grade 4–9 (C–A*) or equivalent.

For non-apprentice applicants: Equivalent qualifications or relevant practical experience will be considered.
