Marks & Spencer plc (UK) is seeking a Software Engineering Manager within the Store Payments & Infrastructure domain. You will lead teams delivering reliable in-store payments and infrastructure, working with multiple engineering teams and third-party partners to drive scalability, reliability and improved developer productivity.

You will align with the technical strategy, own platform development, manage staff, and drive modernization while maintaining safety and quality in production

Qualifications

• Polygot hands-on senior software engineer with production systems experience.
• Experience leading teams delivering high-availability store systems.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, testing strategies and reliability engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering excellence across teams, from technical direction to production operations.
• Lead alignment with technical strategy and collaborate with wider Technology organisation.
• Line manage senior engineers and drive recruitment and retention.
• Partner with vendors to ensure reliability, speed, and quality in third-party delivery.
• Improve delivery lifecycle, reduce technical debt, and enable safe, scalable change across store estate.
