Job summary

Zego in London is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead two teams of 6-8 engineers, shaping technical direction with Tech Leads and Staff Engineers. You will own delivery outcomes end to end, working closely with Product, Data and Marketing to set objectives and drive execution.

You will mentor engineers, raise engineering excellence, and improve how the team works to beat quarterly goals. The role suits someone with 1–3 years as a manager, strong backend/frontend and distributed systems

Qualifications

• 1–3 years as Engineering Manager leading 5–8 engineers
• Background in backend or frontend engineering with distributed systems
• Outcome-oriented with measurable goals and ownership
• Confident people leadership with mentoring and feedback
• Clear communicator for non-technical stakeholders
• Experience using AI daily in development culture

Responsibilities

• Lead one or two teams of 6-8 engineers, setting standards for delivery
• Raise engineering and operational excellence, ensuring performance and maintainability
• Shape technical direction and influence architectural decisions with Tech Leads and Staff Engineers
• Own delivery outcomes end to end, collaborating with Product, Data and Marketing
• Grow engineers and Tech Leads through coaching and feedback
• Improve team processes and quarterly execution to beat prior performance
