Gap Technical Ltd. is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for a busy food manufacturing site in Wrexham. The role leads the engineering and maintenance team to deliver a reliable maintenance service for production.

• Food manufacturing or FMCG experience is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Prioritise work around production demands and ensure PMs are completed.
• Support breakdowns and engineering issues to resolve problems quickly.

• Collaborate with Production to minimise downtime and maintain maintenance service.
• Manage engineering contractors and external support when required.
• Ensure safety compliance and maintenance records are up to date.

ENGINEERING MANAGER - FOOD MANUFACTURING

Location: Wrexham
Salary: 70,000

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance team at a busy food manufacturing site in Wrexham.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the engineering team, ensuring the team is well organised, supported and delivering a reliable maintenance service to the production operation.

This is a people-focused leadership role, with responsibility for team performance, development, maintenance standards and equipment reliability. You will work closely with Production and other site functions, while supporting the wider engineering strategy set by the Head of Engineering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, manage and develop the site engineering and maintenance team.
• Set clear expectations and ensure the team delivers against agreed maintenance and performance targets.
• Manage team performance, including 1-to-1s, development, training and performance reviews.
• Manage day-to-day engineering activities and prioritise work around production requirements.
• Ensure planned and preventative maintenance is completed to the required standard.
• Support the team with breakdowns and engineering issues, ensuring problems are resolved effectively.
• Monitor equipment reliability and identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Work closely with Production to minimise downtime and maintain an effective maintenance service.
• Manage engineering contractors and external support when required.
• Ensure engineering work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures and food manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain appropriate engineering records, systems and maintenance standards.
• Support engineering projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide regular updates to the Head of Engineering on team performance, maintenance activity and key issues.

ABOUT YOU

You will have previous experience managing an engineering or maintenance team within a manufacturing environment. Food manufacturing or FMCG experience would be advantageous, although candidates from other high-volume manufacturing environments will also be considered.

• Proven experience leading and developing an engineering or maintenance team.
• Strong people-management and communication skills.
• Experience managing team performance, training and development.
• Good knowledge of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge.
• Experience working closely with Production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• A practical and structured approach to problem solving.
• Good understanding of health and safety within manufacturing.
• The ability to organise, prioritise and make effective decisions under pressure.
• A focus on maintaining high standards and developing a positive team culture.
