Job summary

Talentmark is recruiting an Engineering Lead for a leading global food brand on a 6-month contract basis. The role is site-based in Chirk, Wrexham, overseeing all engineering operations and driving lean maintenance strategies across the manufacturing plant.

The ideal candidate has extensive engineering leadership experience in manufacturing, a track record of implementing lean techniques, and strong health and safety knowledge. DBS check may be required.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing or process plant environment.
• Experience transitioning maintenance strategies from reactive to preventative/predictive models.
• Proven track record implementing lean manufacturing techniques.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Solid understanding of health and safety legislation and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.
• Lean Six Sigma certification would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all engineering operations within the manufacturing process plant.
• Manage resource planning, shift coverage, and skills development for optimal team capability.
• Lead, coach, and develop engineers, technicians, and maintenance professionals across disciplines.
• Lead the implementation of lean tools and methodologies including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, TPM, and RCA.
• Establish preventative maintenance schedules for critical assets based on manufacturer recommendations and data.
• Own the plant's asset management strategy for long-term reliability and lifecycle cost optimisation.

Salary

£39.10 ph to £48.87 ph PAYE

Engineering Lead Role

• Oversee all engineering operations within the manufacturing process plant.
• Manage resource planning, shift coverage, and skills development to ensure optimal team capability.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance professionals across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Lead the implementation of lean tools and methodologies including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Establish preventative maintenance schedules for all critical assets based on manufacturer recommendations, historical failure data, and risk assessments.
• Own the plant's asset management strategy, ensuring long-term reliability and lifecycle cost optimisation.

Your Background

• Extensive experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing or process plant environment.
• Demonstrated experience in transitioning maintenance strategies from reactive to preventative/predictive models.
• Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing techniques.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Solid understanding of health and safety legislation and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing setting.
• Holding a Lean Six Sigma certification would be an advantage.
