Job summary

Emmerson Kitney Engineering & Operations in Hull, East Yorkshire, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Design and Technical Engineering team. You will oversee projects from design through to delivery, ensuring technical specs and customer requirements are met across manufacturing operations.

You will support production across foundry, machining, assembly and testing, resolving issues and driving efficiency while maintaining high quality standards and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design and Technical Engineering team to deliver product designs and data for manufacturing operations.

• Respond to technical queries from stakeholders and customers.
• Support production areas by troubleshooting and improving efficiency in foundry, machining, assembly and testing.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, PED, ASME, ATEX and API standards.
• Collaborate on R&D initiatives with strategy and innovation teams.
• Provide regular updates to General Manager and Directors.

Engineering Manager

LOCATION: Hull, East Yorkshire

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Managing the Design and Technical Engineering team, providing the product designs and technical data required by manufacturing operations.
• Overseeing the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from order acceptance through to delivery, while meeting technical specifications and customer requirements.
• Responding to technical queries from internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Supporting production areas, including foundry, machining, assembly and testing, by troubleshooting issues and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Ensuring products comply with relevant industry standards and certifications, including ISO, PED, ASME, ATEX and API.
• Contributing to research, development and innovation initiatives in collaboration with Valvitalia’s corporate strategy and innovation teams.
• Collaborating with senior management colleagues and providing regular updates to the General Manager and Director.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Strong leadership, people-management and technical capabilities.
• Knowledge of or experience with valves or similar engineered products.
• A collaborative and results-focused management style, with the ability to develop people and drive performance.
• Proven experience managing complex workloads and delivering against customer requirements without compromising quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams, suppliers and customers.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to analyse technical issues and implement practical solutions.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), safety and HSE principles.
• Proficiency in CAD, Autodesk Inventor, CFD and other relevant engineering tools.
• Experience within an engineering or make-to-order manufacturing environment.
