Job summary

CV Technical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function at a key site in the Hull area. You will direct the engineering and maintenance teams, maximise equipment availability, and uphold food safety and HSE standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Engineering Manager or senior engineering leader in food manufacturing.
  • Experience leading multi-skilled engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance and CI practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and motivate the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Manage PPM schedules and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Manage engineering budgets, contractors and CAPEX projects.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Production, Technical and Operations to maximise performance.
  • Develop maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and improve OEE.
  • Support site audits and regulatory compliance.

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

Shift: Monday - Friday | Days

The Company

A well-established and highly successful food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function at one of its key production sites. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving engineering performance, improving equipment reliability, and leading a skilled maintenance team within a fast-paced food production environment.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the engineering department, ensuring maximum equipment availability while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, health & safety, and engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading, developing, and motivating the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Driving continuous improvement projects to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Managing engineering budgets, contractors, and capital expenditure projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
  • Working closely with Production, Technical, and Operations teams to maximise plant performance.
  • Developing maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and improve OEE.
  • Supporting site audits and ensuring compliance with relevant engineering and food industry regulations.
The Candidate

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Senior Engineering Leader.
  • Essential experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • A strong background managing multi-skilled engineering teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (HNC/HND, Degree, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) are desirable.
