Job summary

The Butchers Recruiter is seeking an Engineering Manager in Bristol to lead a team of 4-5 Multi-Skilled Engineers on a fast-paced food manufacturing site. You will combine hands-on technical leadership with strategic maintenance planning to improve equipment reliability and keep production moving.

This role offers a £60,000 annual salary and provides the opportunity to own continuous improvement projects, safety standards and equipment performance on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing a multi-skilled engineering team.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and improving equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead planned preventative and reactive maintenance, supporting fault finding and major breakdown resolution.
• Manage the site PPM programme, ensuring maintenance activity supports maximum plant availability.
• Lead, develop and provide technical guidance to a team of 4-5 Multi-Skilled Engineers.
• Analyse recurring equipment failures and implement improvements to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
• Monitor engineering KPIs including OEE, downtime and PPM completion, ensuring documentation remains accurate.
• Maintain Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP standards while overseeing contractors, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Keeping production moving takes more than fixing problems when they happen. As Engineering Manager, you'll lead from the front, combining hands-on technical expertise with team leadership to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and keep a fast-paced food manufacturing operation performing at its best.

You’ll lead a team of 4-5 Multi-Skilled Engineers, but this isn't a desk-based position. You’ll be alongside your team when technical challenges arise, while also taking ownership of preventative maintenance, continuous improvement and engineering standards across the site.
