Job summary

South Staffordshire College is recruiting a full‑time Engineering Lecturer specialising in Mechanical/Manufacturing for Tamworth campus. You will deliver Level 3 & 4 apprenticeships, Level 2 & 3 BTEC and T‑Levels with industry relevance.

The successful candidate will prepare, deliver and assess Mechanical Engineering programmes for apprentices and full‑time learners, and hold or be working toward an FE teaching qualification, plus a minimum Level 4 qualification in Mechanical/Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a recognised full FE teaching qualification such as DiT, PGCE/PGCE FE, Cert Ed, or equivalent.
  • If not currently qualified, you will be supported to work towards one.
  • Hold a minimum Level 4 qualification in Mechanical/Engineering subject area.
  • Experience of working in the Mechanical Engineering industry.
  • Assessor and/or verifier award would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, deliver and assess Mechanical Engineering programmes for apprentices and full-time learners.
  • Deliver Mechanical Engineering courses to Level 3 & 4 apprentices, Level 2 & 3 BTEC and T‑Level learners.
  • Hold or work toward a recognised FE teaching qualification and contribute to safeguarding and quality standards.

Job description

Status / Hours: Permanent, Full time – 37 hours per week

Qualified teacher rate: To attract the qualified teacher rate of pay, applicants should hold a recognised full FE teaching qualification, such as DiT, PGCE/PGCE FE, Cert Ed, or equivalent. Applicants without a full FE teaching qualification are still welcome to apply and, if appointed, will be supported to work towards one.

Location: Tamworth Campus

South Staffordshire College is looking to employ a full time Engineering Lecturer who specialises in Mechanical/Manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join this successful team and work within a dynamic environment.

We are looking for a committed and dedicated person with experience of working in the Engineering Industry to deliver Mechanical Engineering courses to Level 3 & 4 apprentices, Level 2 & 3 full time BTEC and T-Level learners at South Staffordshire College’s Tamworth campuses.

The successful applicant will be required to prepare, deliver and assess various aspects of Mechanical Engineering programmes for apprentices and full-time learners studying on our Engineering pathways.

The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant teaching qualification, or be working towards one (PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed), together with a minimum level 4 qualification in a Mechanical or Engineering subject area.

You should have experience of the Mechanical Engineering industry.

If you hold an assessor and/or verifier award this would be considered advantageous.
