Job summary

The Supply Register is currently recruiting Engineering Lecturers to join our bank of staff supporting New College Durham. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Engineering Lecturers or industry professionals looking to move into education on a flexible basis.

Deliver engineering lessons across Mechanical, Electrical and General Engineering, support practical workshop sessions, and assess learners while promoting safety and inclusivity. Training and DBS checks provided as needed.

Qualifications

  • Industry experience within Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related).
  • Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above).
  • Teaching experience or willingness to move into education.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain.
  • Desirable: Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET).
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering Engineering lessons (BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ).
  • Teaching across Mechanical, Electrical, or General Engineering.

The Role
  • Delivering Engineering lessons (BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ)
  • Teaching across areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, or General Engineering
  • Supporting practical workshop sessions and demonstrations
  • Preparing learners for assessments, coursework, and exams
  • Monitoring learner progress and
  • providing constructive feedback
  • Promoting health & safety within workshop environments
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We're Looking For
  • Essential: Industry experience within Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related)
  • Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above)
  • Teaching experience or willingness to move into education
  • Strong practical and communication skills
  • Ability to engage and support post-16 learners
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
  • Desirable: Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DET)
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, or equivalent)
  • Experience delivering BTEC / City & Guilds / NVQ qualifications
  • Previous experience within Further Education
