Job summary

Wise is seeking an Engineering Lead for its embedded finance team. The role is hands‑on and will mentor engineers while steering technical decisions and the long‑term roadmap in collaboration with a Product Manager.

You will design, build, and maintain the team’s services and work with Wise to extend our platform for partners. You’ll collaborate across Wise to deliver real impact, ensure reliability and scalability, and push best practices in engineering.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams.
• Hands‑on Java development experience and strong system design skills.
• Deep understanding of microservices and event‑driven architectures.
• Product mindset with emphasis on customer impact and delivery.

Responsibilities

• This is a hands‑on role designing, developing, and maintaining the team’s services.
• Mentoring and supporting a small team of engineers in growth and development.
• Support technical decisions to build reliable, scalable products.
• Partner with a Product Manager to own and drive the team’s direction and plans.
• Collaborate across Wise to deliver impact and expand platform functionality for partners.
• Own the team’s services and promote best practices and quality.
