Job summary

Stagecoach is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our Midlands operation. Based in Northampton, you will manage 5 maintenance depots and a fleet of over 350 vehicles, including 126 EV buses, driving safety, reliability and excellent service.

You will shape strategy, oversee compliance and depot facilities, coach teams, deliver KPIs, and advance our EV transition while building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring value from our investments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering operations across multiple sites.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Knowledge of health & safety, environmental and transport legislation.
• Experience delivering KPIs, budgets and working in a unionised environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-site engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable and well-presented vehicles.
• Oversee depot facilities, premises and engineering equipment across the region.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, authorities and trade unions.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in engineering.
• Manage performance to meet budgets and service KPIs.
• Collaborate to improve customer satisfaction aligned with CVP.
