Job summary

Stagecoach Ecclesfield Depot is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a pivotal transformation as it moves toward a fully electric fleet. You will steer a skilled team to ensure the fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready for customers, while preparing the depot for significant investment and modernisation.

You will manage budgets, compliance, and health & safety, driving improvements in performance and efficiency.

Qualifications

Engineering experience in bus/coach/HGV/rail/plant/automotive sectors.
Strong people leadership capable of depot-level oversight.
Proactive, organized and safety-first mindset.
Experience with compliance, budgets, audits, and health & safety.
Passion for reliability, operational excellence and high presentation standards.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers, technicians, cleaners, and apprentices to keep the fleet safe and reliable.
Manage maintenance and presentation of 55 service buses and 2 training vehicles, including EV transition.
Oversee depot plant, workshop equipment, and building maintenance with a proactive health & safety approach.
Plan resources, stock control, procurement, and manage supplier relationships daily.
Coach and develop team members for technical growth and progression.
Use data, performance insights, and best practice to drive continuous improvement.
