Job summary

Stagecoach Rugby Depot in Rugby, UK, is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead the Midlands region’s engineering operation, covering 5 maintenance depots and a fleet of over 350 vehicles, including 126 EVs.

You’ll drive safety, reliability and compliance, build a high-performing team, manage budgets and KPIs, and steer major programmes such as EV transition, with travel across the region and relocation assistance where applicable.

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in engineering.
• Ideally qualified as a transport manager for an international operator's licence.
• Experience leading engineering operations across multiple sites.
• Collaborative and inclusive leadership style with strong communication.
• Knowledge of health & safety, environmental and transport legislation.
• Experience delivering to KPIs, managing budgets and working in a unionised environment.
• Willingness to travel across the region and relocate if required.

Responsibilities

• Leading multi-site engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable and well-presented vehicles.
• Strategically overseeing depot facilities, premises and engineering equipment.
• Promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring regulatory and company compliance.
• Developing team capability through coaching, mentoring and training.
• Building strong relationships with suppliers, authorities and trade unions.
• Championing continuous improvement and innovation within engineering.
• Managing performance to meet budgets, KPIs and service expectations.
• Working with colleagues to improve customer satisfaction and align with CVP.
