Job summary

Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking an Engineer to join the Feasibility and Detailed Design Team. The role covers highway and transport schemes from concept through construction, including reports, designs, cost estimates and assessments.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team under Principal Engineers, focusing on active travel, highway improvements and public realm schemes, with consultation with residents and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, design and delivery of highway and transportation schemes
• Prepare technical reports, designs, specifications and cost estimates
• Undertake engineering assessments, inspections and analysis to develop practical solutions
• Collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders, contractors and external organisations
• Assist project delivery from feasibility through to construction
• Support consultation to reflect community and stakeholder views in scheme development
• Contribute to planning and design of infrastructure solutions
• Ensure schemes are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with legislation and best practice

An Engineer post in the newly formed Feasibility and Detailed Design Team at Cheshire West and Chester Council, working on highway and transport schemes. The work covers projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design to construction, including technical reports, designs, cost estimates and assessments. The role sits in a multidisciplinary team under Principal Engineers and covers active travel, highway improvements and public realm schemes, with consultation with residents and stakeholders.
