Job summary

Wates is seeking an Energy Manager to lead energy and sustainability initiatives across its commercial property portfolio. You will guide energy management, decarbonisation and ESG strategies, working with operational teams and senior stakeholders to deliver measurable environmental improvements.

The role requires a track record in energy data analysis, building performance and delivering practical, cost-effective energy solutions across multiple sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience as Energy Manager or Sustainability Manager in commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of energy data analysis and decarbonisation strategies.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
• Degree or professional qualification in Energy Management, Sustainability, Environmental Management or related discipline.
• CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor, ESOS Lead Assessor, ISO 50001 or equivalent accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement energy reduction and sustainability strategies across multiple sites.
• Monitor, analyse and report on energy consumption, carbon emissions and environmental performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve building efficiency, reduce energy costs and enhance sustainability outcomes.
• Support clients with Net Zero, ESG and sustainability objectives.
• Manage energy audits and recommend practical improvement initiatives.
• Assess feasibility of low carbon and renewable energy technologies.
• Produce reports, data analyses and business cases to support investment decisions.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, standards and best practice.
• Collaborate with FM teams to embed sustainable practices in daily operations.
• Support environmental training and awareness programmes.
• Keep up-to-date with industry developments and legislation.
