Job summary

Stockport Council is seeking an experienced Energy Manager to lead the management of energy and utility consumption across our diverse property estate. This newly refreshed role has a strategic focus on helping the Council deliver its climate commitments, reduce carbon emissions and maximise value from energy expenditure.

You will oversee utility contracts, monitor energy performance, analyse consumption data and identify opportunities to reduce costs and carbon.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy management, utilities procurement and contract management.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret energy and consumption data.
• Knowledge of carbon reduction, sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and challenging performance where needed.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, with ability to influence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee utility contracts and procurement.
• Monitor energy performance across the estate.
• Analyse energy consumption data to identify saving opportunities.
• Develop energy efficiency initiatives and drive carbon reduction.
• Provide expert advice across the Council and support net-zero delivery by 2039.

Education

Relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, energy management, sustainability or building services
