Job summary

Murphy is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the ETP Project on the Minety substation capacity upgrade. Initially based in the Cardiff office, with travel to sites across projects in energy transmission.

The role requires strong civils background, design management exposure, and solid project-management skills. You will work with external design teams, manage documentation, and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure milestones are met and quality standards are maintained.

Qualifications

• A background in Site Management or Site Engineering is ideal for this role.
• Proven civils construction experience, preferably in Energy.
• Design management exposure.
• Experienced in preparing site paperwork.
• Strong project management skills and confident when dealing with the Client and programmes.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project and PDF editors.
• SMSTS qualification is preferable.
• Flexible working approach and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure work is carried out per Company procedures with a high level of professionalism.
• Assist in managing external design teams; ensure milestones and contract programme are met.
• Capture and report commercial change to Client with Design Manager and QS.
• Plan, programme and resource site surveys per designer's spec.
• Prepare site paperwork per SHESQ policies (WPPs, ALO Plans, risk assessments).
• Obtain quotes from sub-contractors per procurement procedures.
• Assist the estimator in producing design and survey estimates.
• Engage stakeholders early to understand requirements and expectations.
• Prepare land access strategies and liaise with land agents and Client.
• Coordinate with environmental team on constraints and mitigations.
• Assist Engineering in detailed designs per Client standards.
